Tips for small business

Another video for this week but I thought it was a nice little success story.

I enjoyed the video. I especially like how she spoke about how one person can't do it all; and that it's always a good idea to surround yourself with people who are smarter than you are.

I so understand that one person can not do it all. I used to work for a listed company. We had a VP that ran a division of about 15 people. He had a co-chair that ran the R&D division and we were housed under the same roof, apart from the main company. Since the two depts. collaborated alot it made sense that they should be together but managed seperately. Fast forward to my being laid off. My boss/vp of my division asked what problems did I see. I told him he micromanaged everything to much. He had 2 phones and 2 earpieces for each phones for when the batteries would die. He would need constant updates. He did not trust the team he constructed even though they showed consistent results for years. He was pretty much burnt out. I had a follow up with someone in a different division and apparently he is still ontop of everything and has not changed and is extremely unhappy.
